What is the objective of this blog?

So, i have been working in the govt sector and in my recent years of experience with the push to digitization by the modi govt, the push for government organisations to purchase from the govt e marketplace has increases and in such times many people find themselves unaware and taken by surprise due to the rather unfamiliarity of this new portal. So i have written this blog to bring some convenience to new people joining the government service and also the previous generation, in order to better equip them with the latest technology.

Firstly lets understand some basics...

What is gem?

Government-e-Marketplace or GeM is a marketplace for government buyers to purchase goods and services from the open market. 

What was the need for establishing gem?

It was needed to ensure that procurement of goods and services is done in a fair and transparent manner.

How to access this Portal/Website?

We can access this  website on www.gem.gov.in

What can we purchase on gem portal?

We can purchase all kinds of goods and services from gem. It is just like amazon.com for government employees.

Ok so since we have the basics out of the way, lets start with the main stuff.

First we need to open the gem portal. On opening the gem portal we see a screen link this:

As you can see from this, 

1.    Search Bar: This is the search bar of GeM. This is very much similar like Google Search Bar. Basically this is your window to GeM.

2.    Login Button: If you are a regular user, you will have to log into your id from here.

3.    Sign Up Button: For NEW users, this is the option to create a new account.
